You might start receiving e-mail messages from people you’ve never met.

If you include an e-mail message on your blog, your posts might inspire readers to contact you directly.

This is a good sign that your blog is having an impact. People are not only reading, they’re taking an active interest in what you have to say.

You might get asked to write a guest post for another blog.

Bloggers are busy people, and the best of them try to post something to their blogs every day. Some of these bloggers seek relief by recruiting other writers to write guest posts.

If you have a blog that is respected in your field, don’t be surprised to receive a request to write a guest post. Consider it an honor.

Someone might steal your content.

Not every indirect effect is a positive one. If you blog often, you might find that thieves have stolen your content and placed it on their own blogs.

You can request that these bloggers take your material off their sites. Many will, but others won’t. It’s rarely worth it to pursue legal action. And in most cases yuo won’t even know about it anyway.

It’s always a great honor when another blogger refers to one of your posts in his or her Web site. It shows that what you’ve written has struck a nerve.

You might gain some notoriety.

Many bloggers achieve a bit of fame. There’s no reason why you can’t, either.
